What Is Activated Carbon for Metals Removal?
Active Carbon for Metallic Removal is the use of special engineered active carbon materials (such as impregnation, surface modification, and high surface area) in a water-treating and industrial process system in order to absorb and immobilize the dissolved heavy metals, Hg, As, Pb, Cr, and other micrometallic pollutants from the water flow to a level which complies with the regulatory discharge and the drinking water quality standards.
In contrast to traditional ACF applications which mainly deal with organic compounds, metal-removing applications depend on a combined process of physical absorption, surface complexation, and chemical interactions among dissolved metal ions and functional groups.
